Philosophy of Education

Covenant Bible Institute (CBI) is the nation’s first Bible college and graduate school to concentrate on open church and house church principles.  Rather than training professional clergy only, CBI is committed to equipping every believer for his or her ministry without making a clergy/laity distinction—thus preparing the entire church (the called-out ones) to fulfill the ministry of Jesus set forth in Luke 4:18:  “… to bring the gospel to the poor … to heal  the brokenhearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at

liberty the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Statement of Faith

We believe there is one God, infinitely perfect, who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, his death on the cross, his bodily resurrection from the dead, his ascension to the Father, and his personal, physical return to establish his kingdom of righteousness and peace.

We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and Judgment; indwells, sanctifies, and empowers believers to produce and be witnesses; that he is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide; and that his gifts and graces are for equipping believers for works of service.

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and are the only sufficient, certain, and authoritative rule of all saving knowledge, faith and obedience.

We believe mankind is born lost in sin, in danger of both physical and spiritual death, and that salvation through Jesus Christ is provided as the only means of being born anew by the Holy Spirit’s power into God’s family.

We believe in the resurrection of every person, to eternal life for believers, and to eternal judgment for unbelievers.

We believe that all believers in Jesus Christ, joined in love, acceptance, and forgiveness, comprise his Body, the Church, and that each believer is a priest of the Lord, having direct access to the Father through Jesus Christ.  Each person must believe for himself, be baptized for himself, and answer for his own life.
